Post-16 Full Diagnostic Assessments

Full diagnostic assessments at 16+ are conducted and written under the national guidelines for assessing students in higher education and fulfils the requirements for examination access arrangements in the sixth form. This report can be used to support the application for a Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) for higher education. Therefore, this assessment is particularly useful for students intending to continue on to university.

The assessment involves a series of tests to detail current attainments and identify a pattern of strengths and weaknesses. The test results are presented in a full written report, which documents the findings. The report provides useful recommendations for supporting a student in class or lectures, for one-to-one study skills support and for assistive technology. The report can also be used as supporting evidence for examination access arrangements.

Tests used will be individually tailored to the needs of the student, but will normally cover underlying ability, literacy attainments, cognitive skills including phonological awareness and speed of processing, memory, visual motor integration, visual processing and writing skills.
