Study Skills

Students with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties often struggle with organisational skills and remembering what they have learnt. This can have a serious impact on their performance in class and in examinations. Our Study Skills courses aim to equip students with the tools they need to make them efficient and effective learners.

Consentia Education has experience in running study skills courses for students in upper primary, secondary and tertiary education. Our courses can be individualised to suit the needs of different schools and groups of learners. Courses might include a combination of:

  • organisational skills and time management
  • working out preferred ways of working and using strengths
  • active reading stategies
  • ways to remember – making the most of memory
  • revision and examination technique
  • improving writing skills and organisation of ideas
  • mindmapping and note taking/making

We can run 'one-off' study skills sessions or a series of shorter sessions spread over the academic year. Most of our Study Skills courses work best when taught in a group rather than one-to-one as students learn from eachother.

Consentia Education can also help schools to develop their own learning skills programmes.
